上海市世外小学创办于1993年, 学校属于民办非企业单位，实行理事会领导下的校长负责制，是上海市事业类社会公益一类文明单位，也是国际文凭组织小学课程授权学校。学校有两个校区，三个学部。西部校区为境内部，位于桂林西街101弄56号，占地总面积10665 平方米，建筑总面积 6072 平方米，室内外运动总面积3498 平方米，目前有20个教学班， 829名学生。东部校区为双语部和融合部，位于浦北路380号，占地12050平方米，校舍建筑面积8272平方米，室内外运动场地面积4282平方米，目前有34个教学班，904名学生。
Shanghai World Foreign Language Primary School was set up in 1993, and belongs to a private non-enterprise unit, under the leadership and principles of the school board of directors. The school is the Shanghai Business Social Welfare Model Unit. It is also the International Baccalaureate Organization Authorized World School. The school has two campuses, three departments. The Local Department is in the West Campus which is located at No.56, Lane101, West Guilin Street. It covers an area of 10665m², the total construction area is 6072m², indoor and outdoor sports area is 3498m², currently there are 20 classes, 829 students in the Local Department. The Bilingual Department and Fusion Department are in the East Campus, which is located at No.380, Pubei Road. It covers an area of 12050 m², construction area is 8272 m², indoor and outdoor sports area is 4282 m², and currently there are 34 classes, a total of 904 students.
世外小学现有在编在岗教职工181人，其中外籍教师24人，平均年龄35岁，教师全部为本科及以上学历，有超过一半的教师曾在区、市、全国乃至世界获得过教育教学大奖。教师队伍稳定、专业、友爱，有很强的责任感和创新力。
Shanghai World Foreign Language Primary School has 181 teachers, and 24 foreign teachers. The average age is 35 years old. Teachers all have Bachelor Degrees. More than half of the teachers have won educational and teaching awards in districts, cities, countries and the world. The teaching team is stable, professional, friendly, responsible and creative.
近年来，学校不断探索民办学校的办学机制与体制，进一步扩大办学优势，教育教学特色日趋明显，孕育了东西方思想交融的课程体系和校园文化。学校先后获得“全国五一劳动奖状”、“全国特色学校”、“市文明单位”、“市安全文明校”、“市家庭教育先进单位”、“市德育先进集体”、“市行为规范示范校”、“区绿色学校”、“区科技特色学校”、“区艺术特色学校”等荣誉称号。
