Love Shines Like a Beacon, Kindness Reaches Far
— A Chronicle of the 2025 Charity Bazaar Carnival at WFLPS International Division
3月28日，上海市世外小学国际部的校园里洋溢着温暖与活力。一年一度的爱心义卖嘉年华如期举行，全体师生、家长以及公益组织代表齐聚操场，共同见证这场融合教育理念与公益精神的盛会。
On March 28, the campus of WFLPS International Division was filled with warmth and vitality as the annual Charity Bazaar event took place. Students, teachers, parents, and charity representatives gathered at the school to have fun and raise some funds for charity - seamlessly blending our educational values with the spirit of public welfare.
【教育理念的生动实践】
活动伊始，Halina校长在致辞中强调：“爱心义卖不仅是一次慈善活动，更是对杜威‘学校即社会’教育理念的践行。通过真实的社会场景，学生们得以培养责任感、创造力与团队协作能力。”
本次活动以班级为单位展开跨学科实践，学生将UOI探究主题创造性融入义卖商品的全流程开发，从财务管理到广告策划形成完整商业闭环。通过商品设计、成本核算、营销推广等真实场景的沉浸式学习，学生有效贯通了学科知识与社会实践的连接，从实践中全面提升了资源整合能力、创新思维和社会责任感。
【A Lively Practice of Educational Philosophy】
At the opening ceremony, Principal Halina emphasised in her speech: “The charity bazaar is not just a fundraising event; it is a practice of John Dewey’s educational philosophy that ‘school is society.’ By engaging in real-life social scenarios, students develop a sense of responsibility, creativity, and teamwork.”
As the principal stated, the event was organised by our students, integrating their Unit of Inquiry (UOI) themes into the design and production of charity sale items. From financial management to advertising strategies, they honed their interdisciplinary application skills in a comprehensive manner.
【公益力量的温情传递】
家委会主席吴将爸爸则代表全体家长表达了对活动的支持：“家校协同不仅是教育理念的延伸，更是爱心的传递。”
方舟公益组织的负责老师受邀来到现场，分享了过去一年受助群体的真实故事。“每一份善款都能化为希望的火种。”她动情地说道。
【The Warmth of Philanthropy in Action】
A representative from the Ark Charity was invited to share real-life stories of those who had benefited from past fundraising efforts. “Every donation is a spark of hope,” she said with deep emotion. Mr. Wu, Chair of the PTA, also voiced his support for the event on behalf of all parents: “Home-school collaboration is not only an extension of educational philosophy but also a means of passing on love and kindness.”
【创意与活力的绽放】
随着全场热身完毕后，义卖活动正式拉开帷幕。操场被划分为义卖区、义演区、游戏区和慈善区等，此次活动同学们用自己设计的代金券进行交易，各班级摊位前人头攒动。
【Creativity and Energy on Full Display】
After a lively warm-up session, the bazaar officially began. The school field was divided into different sections, including the market stalls, a charity stage, a games zone, and a charity section. Each class set up unique booths that attracted crowds of enthusiastic students.
【数字背后的温暖】
本次活动共吸引800余名师生家长参与，募集善款将用于支持“根与芽”环保项目、方舟公益的弱势群体帮扶计划和缅甸地震灾区物资捐助。
各班"展台上流转的不是寻常物件，而是善意交织的涟漪；捐款箱里积累的并非数字的堆砌，而是生命拔节时清脆的回响。当童真的掌心托起希望星辰，这场春风化雨的相遇便让善念抽芽，让稚嫩的灵魂在给予中遇见更丰盈的自己。"
【The Warmth Behind the Numbers】
This year’s event saw over 800 students, parents, and teachers take part. The funds raised will go toward supporting the Roots & Shoots Environmental Initiative, the Ark Charity Organization’s programs for disadvantaged groups as well as to charitable groups supporting the Myanmar earthquake. “What we sell is not just products; what we gain is not just profit, but growth.”
活动过程中，小记者团采访了老师、家长和同学。接近尾声时，许多孩子主动协助清理场地，将“责任”二字诠释得淋漓尽致。这场义卖嘉年华，创新构建了"社会即课堂"的教育场景，突破传统教室边界，引导学生在真实情境中完成认知建构与能力迁移，以知促行，以行求知。
As the event drew to a close, our students rose to the task of tidying everything away, embodying the true meaning of responsibility. This four-hour-long Charity Bazaar was a vivid demonstration of WFLPS ID’s educational philosophy— letting students be a part of the world and taking action in society.
