Welcome to Our 2025 Literacy Festival!
Step into a world where every story matters! This year’s theme—" My Story, Your Story, Our Story"—celebrates the unique tales that shape us, from beloved classics to personal adventures. Whether you're a curious explorer, a creative writer, or a bookworm at heart, this festival is your invitation to dive into the magic of reading, unlock your imagination, and share the stories that inspire you most!
Library Adventures Await!
Get ready for a literary journey like no other! At our Book Tasting, students “tasted” bite-sized excerpts from fascinating biographies and diverse authors—who knows which story might become their next favorite? Then, the Library Scavenger Hunt sent young detectives on a mission to uncover hidden gems and to discover hidden corners of our library. It’s the perfect way to fall in love with our library all over again!
Celebrating Student Creativity
The festival is already bursting with talent! Our Bookmark Design Competition transformed simple paper into miniature masterpieces, while the Book Cover Redesign challenge let students reimagine their favorite stories with bold new artwork. Let’s not forget Reading Bingo—each week, students race to complete creative challenges like "Read in a comfy chair" or "Read in a fort"—and our budding authors are busy crafting Short Stories that could rival the books on our shelves!
More Fun to Come!
The adventure’s just beginning! Snap a Book Selfie by taking a fun photo with a book and working as a class to turn classroom doors into dazzling portals to storybook worlds. Then, mark your calendars for two highlight events: the Book Swap (bring a well-loved book to trade and take home a "new” book to treasure!) and Character Dress-Up Day—whether you’re Harry Potter, Matilda, or the Very Hungry Caterpillar, it’s your day to become the main character!
Growing Through Reading
Behind all the fun, there’s something even more special happening: our readers are growing! On MyOn, students are devouring books at record speeds, reading longer than before, and discovering new genres. Teachers are weaving in reading strategies during lessons, helping students analyse plots, predict endings, and practice their reading comprehension. Every book is a stepping stone—to knowledge, empathy, and a lifetime of curiosity.
Sharing the Joy of Reading
Stories remind us that we’re all connected. Maybe a classmate’s favorite book becomes yours too, or a story you wrote makes someone laugh for the first time. This festival is more than activities—it’s about passing the torch of inspiration. So, grab a book, gather a friend, and let’s keep writing this chapter together. After all, the best stories are the ones we share. Happy reading, everyone!
