Envision Mathematics》

CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT

Integrating Chinese and Western Curricula, Innovating Teaching Frameworks: Summer Training for International Division Teachers

Chinese Language Group: Focusing on Teaching Quality Improvement and Project Advancement

During the summer training, the Chinese language group of the International Department focused on teaching quality enhancement, project promotion, IB follow-up visits, and information-based lesson planning, covering the following core contents:

Quality Analysis and Work Handover

Grades were analyzed to assess academic performance, with data used to diagnose teaching weak points. Work handover across different grades and year levels was completed to prepare for the new semester.

Research Project Report

Practical Research on Teaching Design and Implementation of Whole Book Reading in Primary School Chinese under the Vision of Learning Task Groups entered the conclusion stage. Project leader Zhan Chuhan systematically presented and shared experience in problem-oriented approaches, disciplinary practices, and team collaboration.

Experience Sharing

Dou Nana shared optimized methods for correcting senior-grade compositions, discussing stratified evaluation strategies. By combining model essay appreciation with targeted training, she aimed to enhance students' writing logic and personalized expression.

IB Follow-up Preparation and Toddle Lesson Planning Platform Iteration

Lesson planning team leaders raced against time to complete the migration of teaching resources from the MB platform to the Toddle platform. They re-examined how to deeply integrate IB curriculum concepts with new curriculum standards, ingeniously embedding ATL (Approaches to Learning) and UOI (Unit of Inquiry) elements in teaching designs. The platform resource library was optimized to strengthen unit design and the implementation of core competencies.

Mathematics Group: Innovative Practices from Curriculum Deconstruction to Thinking Advancement

In the wave of global education, balancing the cutting-edge concepts of international curricula with the educational essence of local textbooks has become a key proposition for teaching innovation in international schools. Recently, the mathematics teaching and research group of the International Department of Shanghai World Foreign Language Primary School launched an integration project of Envision Mathematics and Shanghai Education Edition mathematics textbook. Their aim was to create a mathematical thinking cultivation system for students that "takes root in China and dialogues with the world" \. This will be achieved through cross-cultural curriculum integration and structured teaching design.

As a mainstream textbook in North America, Envision Mathematics features "concept visualization," "modeling application," and "inquiry-based learning." The Shanghai Education Edition textbook, meanwhile, excels in "cultural immersion" and "systematic knowledge construction." Teachers from the mathematics group of World Foreign Language Primary School studied the two textbooks They complemented their advantages, redesigned class exercises, and brought the curricula from different cultural backgrounds to life through structured design, forming an educational synergy of "1+1>2."

Specialists Group: Building Digital Classrooms with Student Core Competencies as the Guide

Relying on dual new standards and referring to the IB Arts syllabus, music teachers in the International Department organized lesson planning for the new semester with the core goal of cultivating students' musical literacy. In recent days, music teachers watched a set of comprehensive art popular science videos, selecting high-quality content suitable for UOI courses from nearly 200 short videos. They conducted secondary development combined with music classes to build digital music classrooms and enhance the fun of music lessons in the new semester.

To deepen physical education reform and improve teaching quality, the physical education teachers in the International Department referred to the IB Physical Education syllabus, adhered to the principle of "educating people through sports,". This focused on optimizing the "integration of learning, practice, competition, and evaluation" teaching model with the cultivation of students' core competencies as the guide.

In the practical session, teachers carried out special training on three ball games—football, volleyball, and basketball—improving students' motor skills and teamwork abilities through demonstration, tactical explanation, and group drills.

Reviewing this semester, the "Well- balanced Festival" activities were splendid, fully showcasing students' sports demeanor and competitive spirit. The "boys' and girls' school football team" competition was particularly outstanding, where team members fought tenaciously on the field. With their superb skills and tenacious fighting spirit, they not only demonstrated the training achievements of the school team but also inspired all students' love for sports.

Looking to the next semester, the physical education group will further optimize the school team training system. They will carefully design diverse sports club activities starting from students' multiple interests, allowing more students to enjoy and enhance physical fitness. Emphasis will be on improving personality, and sportsmanship in sports activities.

The road of education knows no end. All teachers in the International Department of World Foreign Language Primary School will continue to deeply cultivate their disciplines. They will promote the quality of education and teaching to new heights with higher goals and a more open vision. They will continue to strive to cultivate new talents with both international vision and local feelings.
