I. A Two-Month Scientific Expedition

Over the past two months, students learned, explored, and created together, achieving a wide range of meaningful outcomes. Through a short video, we revisited this journey of open-ended exploration. (Video 1)

Centered on the theme "Observing, Thinking, and Solving Problems Like a Scientist", this event went far beyond a simple competition of finished products. Instead, it became a complete inquiry-based learning journey, where students experienced the full process of questioning, investigating, designing, and reflecting.

II. Awards: Every Idea Deserves to Be Seen

1. Participation Award: When Innovation Becomes Part of Everyday Learning

This year’s Innovation Festival marked the first time that innovative thinking was systematically integrated into our Units of Inquiry.
The Year 2 “Material” unit and the Year 4 “Design Thinking” unit became fertile ground for developing creativity and problem-solving skills.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the teachers and students of both grades for their dedication throughout the inquiry process. Every participating student received an innovation-themed commemorative gift.

In addition, students who bravely stepped onto the WFL campus TV station to share their understanding of innovation were also recognized. Innovation is not only about creating products—it is also about having the courage to express ideas and the willingness to share learning.

2. Lifestyle Choices & Participation Award: Living the IB Philosophy

During the selection process, we observed that student projects went beyond technological solutions and truly embodied the IB learner profile—showing care, curiosity, and a willingness to take risks.

Our PYP Coordinator, Vanessa, announced the winners of these two special awards. The awarded projects addressed themes such as environmental protection, care for people with special needs, and improvements to everyday life. Each project reflected students’ keen awareness of real-world needs and their thoughtful, compassionate responses.

3. The Creative Principal Award: The Highest Honor

The most exciting moment of the ceremony arrived as Ms. Jackie, Principal of WFLPSID, took the stage to announce the highest honor of this year's Innovation Festival—the Creative Principal Award.

These winning projects demonstrated careful observation of everyday life. Their ideas were grounded in existing technology and were largely developed independently by students. Ultimately, three outstanding projects stood out among many creative submissions. They were not only practical solutions, but also powerful expressions of scientific thinking combined with human-centered care.

III.Surprise Highlight: A Conversation with “Li Bai” — Everyone Can Have an AI Partner

The ceremony reached its peak with a special surprise. A guest appeared on the big screen—a poet in traditional attire reciting verses with elegance. This was AI “Li Bai,” a machine-learning–based intelligent agent.

AI “Li Bai” responded fluently to students’ questions and even improvised poetry on the spot based on student's questions. The atmosphere reached its peak as students eagerly raised their hands to interact with this “time-traveling” poet.

After the session, event coordinator Mr. Tom shared:

"Through this experience, we hope students understand that artificial intelligence is not just a tool, but a partner for dialogue and collaboration. In the future, everyone may have their own AI assistant to support learning and creativity.

IV.Today's Ideas, Tomorrow's World

Innovation is the soul of a nation’s progress and an inexhaustible driving force behind a country’s prosperity. Over these past two months, students observed details with their eyes, built prototypes with their hands, questioned ideas with their minds, and responded to needs with their hearts.

They have proven that innovation is not reserved for a few gifted individuals—it is an innate ability within every child.

WFLPSID will continue to provide broader platforms, spark curiosity, and protect bold and imaginative ideas. We firmly believe that the creative ideas planted in children’s hearts today will one day grow into forces capable of changing the world.
