Better me, better positive culture

学生组织迎来改革:CEO(班级小当家)、SRC(学生代表委员会)、HOUSE TEAM(学院制)全面完善组建。

Better me, better positive culture

Galloping Forward — An Unstoppable Spirit

Better Me, Better Positive Culture

WFLPS International Division Opening Ceremony — Semester 2, Academic Year 2025

With the warmth of spring in the air and new beginnings unfolding, all teachers and students of WFLPS International Division gathered in the gymnasium on March 2nd for the Opening Ceremony of Semester 2, Academic Year 2025, under the theme “Galloping Forward — An Unstoppable Spirit.”

I. Dragon-Horse Spirit: Rooted in Culture, Seeing the World

Inspired by the mythical horse Jiliang from The Classic of Mountains and Seas, recently featured in the Spring Festival Gala, the Chinese teachers opened the ceremony, sharing stories of famous horses in Chinese culture. From the loyalty of the Red Hare to the grandeur of the Six Steeds of Zhao Mausoleum and the elegance of the Bronze Galloping Horse Treading on a Swallow, these stories brought traditional culture vividly to life in the hearts of our students.

Following this, student representatives from each grade shared highlights from their winter break experiences. Some explored traditional Spring Festival traditions in Guangzhou, others won awards on musical theatre stages in Singapore, and many challenged themselves on ski slopes, drawing inspiration from Olympic champions. Though the holiday break was short, their perspectives expanded through experiences such as AI-powered martial arts, the Olympic spirit, and international cultural exchange. Our students continued exploring and growing into better versions of themselves.

II. A Leap Forward: Thriving and Shining Together

“True passion is what keeps you going,” shared Olympic champion Gu Ailing, whose words inspired the audience. Teachers introduced the upcoming Well-being Festival, while the newly launched after-school fencing programme energized the crowd with a dynamic performance. Physical vitality and emotional well-being form the foundation of a Better Me — allowing every student to flourish and have their strengths recognized.

III. Leading the Way: From “Me” to “We”

Our student organizations entered a new chapter with the continued development of the CEO (Class Executive Officer), the SRC (Student Representative Council), and the House Teams. A video recorded by the SRC offered an honest reflection on the challenges and growth experienced by student leaders, showing that responsibility is not merely a slogan but a meaningful journey. Teachers outlined expectations for student organizations, emphasizing that leadership is both a privilege and a responsibility. Moving from “me” to “we,” students are encouraged to take action together in building a positive school culture where every contribution matters.

IV. Riding Forward: Moving Ahead Together

Ms Cherry introduced the semester calendar, filled with exciting events, festivals, and activities that students can look forward to. During the principal’s speech, Ms Jackie shared warm and encouraging words, joined by Ms Vanessa and Ms Cherry in presenting flowers to class representatives — symbolizing growth and the unique blossoming of every individual. Representatives from each grade then shared their wishes and aspirations for the new semester.

Better Me, Better Positive Culture
Though brief, the ceremony drew a spiritual blueprint for the semester ahead. "A steed cannot cover ten paces with one leap; an old horse can achieve success with perseverance." The growth of each individual (Better me) and the cultivation of a positive culture (better positive culture) nurture and strengthen one another. May every WFL student, rooted in tradition and reaching toward the world, gallop into an unstoppable semester ahead!
