Reach for the Sky: WFLPSID Year 4 Students Shine in Toy Story Musical Production
上海市世外小学国际部四年级音乐剧，是UOI超学科主题“我们如何表达自己”探究单元的经典传承项目。多年来，学生们以舞台为课堂，在沉浸式戏剧实践中完成跨学科学习与自我表达。
The annual Year 4 musical is a treasured tradition at the International Division of WFL Primary School and a signature learning experience within the IB PYP transdisciplinary theme How We Express Ourselves. Each year, students transform the stage into an extension of the classroom, engaging in an immersive journey that combines inquiry, creativity, collaboration, and self-expression.
本届学生历经为是为期一整年跨学科探究单元课程的成果收官之作。通过戏剧工作坊、角色扮演、分组研讨等形式，深度探索 “形式、观点、功能” 三大核心概念，理解台前幕后每一个角色的价值，体会沟通、协作与创意解决问题的力量。
This year’s production was the culmination of a year-long transdisciplinary unit of inquiry. Through drama workshops, role-playing activities, collaborative discussions, and performance rehearsals, students explored the key concepts of form, perspective, and function. Along the way, they developed a deeper appreciation for the many roles involved in creating a successful production—both on stage and behind the scenes—while strengthening their communication, teamwork, and creative problem-solving skills.

为呈现最佳舞台效果，孩子们付出大量汗水与努力。从 SMG 播控中心的声光电体验，到 M-cube 音立方的专业录音，每一段旋律都经过反复录制；从走位、台词到肢体表达，无数次彩排打磨细节。灯光调试、道具准备、和声排练，孩子们在过程中学会坚持、责任与团队配合，将探究精神融入每一个表演瞬间。
Creating a memorable musical requires commitment, perseverance, and countless hours of preparation. To bring Toy Story to life, students experienced every aspect of the theatrical process.
From exploring professional sound, lighting, and stage technology at the SMG Broadcasting Center to recording songs in a professional studio at M-cube, students gained first-hand insight into the world of performance production. Every song was rehearsed and recorded multiple times to achieve the best possible result.
Countless rehearsals were devoted to refining stage movement, dialogue delivery, character expression, vocal harmonies, and choreography. Through these experiences, students learned the importance of resilience, responsibility, and collaboration, demonstrating the spirit of inquiry in every step of the creative process.
童真演绎 以情动人
A Heartfelt and Vibrant Performance
这部原创改编版《玩具总动员》专为儿童表演者量身打造。故事围绕《玩具总动员》中的经典角色展开，讲述了玩具们与主人安迪共同成长中那些波澜起伏却温暖人心的历程。他们在阳光日托中心结识了一群新朋友，共同踏上激动人心的冒险之旅，最终领悟到忠诚、友谊与自我成长的真正意义。
This original adaptation of Toy Story was specially designed for young performers. Inspired by the beloved characters from the iconic story, the musical follows the toys and their owner Andy through a journey filled with challenges, friendship, and personal growth. Along the way, they meet new friends at Sunnyside Daycare and embark on an exciting adventure that ultimately teaches valuable lessons about loyalty, courage, and self-discovery.
舞台之上，每一个孩子都全力以赴。无论是怎样的角色，他们都以最认真的姿态，把角色的温度与力量带到观众面前。孩子们在练习中不断突破：精准记忆大段英文台词，用自然生动的表情传递角色情绪；用清亮歌声演绎剧中旋律，以整齐协调的舞蹈展现活力；在反复彩排中调整气息、配合节奏、磨合默契。
On stage, every student performed with enthusiasm and confidence. Regardless of the size of their role, each child brought sincerity, energy, and heart to the performance. Their growth throughout the process was remarkable.
Students memorized extensive English dialogue, expressed emotions naturally through acting, performed musical numbers with confidence and clarity, and executed coordinated dance routines with enthusiasm. Through repeated rehearsals, they learned to control their breathing, maintain rhythm, support one another, and perform as a cohesive ensemble.
孩子们用灵动的歌声、自然的表演，诠释童年陪伴的温暖，传递勇气、忠诚与自我价值的深刻内涵。
With expressive voices and authentic performances, the students captured the warmth of childhood companionship while sharing powerful messages about friendship, loyalty, courage, and self-worth.
公益暖心 以爱传声
Art with a Heart: Performing for a Cause
本场音乐剧更承载温暖公益使命，所有门票收入将全额捐赠深圳市泡泡家园神经纤维瘤病关爱中心。以艺术传递善意，用舞台践行责任，让这场演出不仅是学习成果的展示，更是一堂生动的品格教育课，让童真之力汇聚成温暖社会的光芒。
This production carried an important charitable mission as well. One hundred percent of the ticket proceeds were donated to the Shenzhen Bubble Home Neurofibromatosis Care Center.
By combining artistic expression with social responsibility, the musical became far more than a showcase of student learning. It served as a meaningful lesson in compassion and character, demonstrating how young people can use their talents to make a positive impact on the wider community.
舞台落幕，成长不止。世外小学国际部以音乐剧为桥，融合探究、艺术与公益，在老师与家委们的默契协作下，孩子们在表达自我中收获成长，在奉献爱心中传递力量，留下一段温暖而深刻的童年记忆。正如《玩具总动员》胡迪的那句经典台词：Reach for the sky —— 向着更高的天空，去探索、去突破。期待下一场冒险，继续飞向天际。
Although the final curtain has closed, the learning and growth inspired by this experience will continue long after the applause has faded.
Through this musical production, the International Division of WFL Primary School successfully brought together inquiry, the arts, and community service. With the unwavering support of teachers and parent volunteers, students developed confidence through self-expression, strengthened their sense of responsibility through service, and created memories that will remain with them for years to come.
As Woody famously says in Toy Story, “Reach for the sky!”
May our students continue to explore, dream, take risks, and reach beyond their limits. We look forward to their next adventure—to infinity and beyond!
